A day of fun at Puxton Park

One sunny Sunday we decided to go out for the day at Puxton Park, Weston-super-mare. Just a short trip down the M5 and we were there, we have been before and the girls love it, a mixture of animals, play areas, soft play and a few other bits as well as a farm shop and restaurants.

It is really good value for a day out and is good value for money, we had a money off voucher for £1 off per person and ended up paying £26 for 4 adults and 1 child (Little 2 was free), bargain.

The Little ones headed immediately for the play park area and had some fun on the swings and roundabout, Daddy had to get on too! There is a giant sandpit there with diggers and buckets etc which they almost dived into for a quick play (so quick I didn't take any photos) before spotting the animals and going running off in that direction.

Little 2 has a thing about animals, I really think she will have a job involving animals when she is older, she loves to watch them, talk to them and get up really close even to the bigger animals that Little 1 is still unsure of. She never shouts at them or taps the cages and if allowed she will stay there for ages quietly watching and occasionally saying delightedly things like 'ooh it has a beak, it ate the grass'. She particularly has a thing for chickens!

We walked around the park having a go on the toddler rides and playthings and looking at the animals, we fell in love with some tiny rabbits in pets corner and would have loved to take one home with us. The ride on tractors were a big hit, Little 2 couldn't reach the pedals so was helped around by Nanny, Little 1 seemed to have lost control of her legs for a short time and needed Daddy to push her too!!

At home we have a trampoline and the girls use it nearly every day, but if they see one somewhere when they are out they just have to have a bounce. This time Daddy and I joined in the fun then I got off to take pictures. Little did we know the pits underneath the trampolines were filled with water, I'd only done a bit of light bouncing so as not to knock Little 2 flying but Daddy wasn't so restrained and did a huge bounce on his bottom, he bounced into the water and got a very very wet bottom, it was rather funny as it looked like he'd wet himself!! Luckily it was a sunny day and it dried eventually!

Wet undies Daddy?!

We saw a few more animals as we walked down towards the cow milking parlour, Little 2 was interested in the goats and tried to feed them lots of grass but they weren't really interested.

We went into the cow shed and saw lots of little calves and cows waiting to be milked, it was all automated, the gates opening, a portion of food dispensed, the milking machine on the udders automatically detached when no more milk came, the gate opened out walked the milked cow and in walked the next waiting cow. All the farmer had to do was wipe the udders clean and attach the suction cups.

It was nearing the end of our day out, we had had a picnic lunch earlier and an ice lolly, now it was time to hit the soft play. The Little ones loved the slides, Little 1 braved the death slide several times as long as Daddy dangled her over the side. Little 2 was fearless speeding around and throwing herself through the rollers and over the obstacles.

We had a great family day out and will be going back again soon.
