This month it is National Walk to School week, everybody knows that walking is good for you, it can provide educational, physical and emotional benefits for children and apparently children who walk to school are more alert in the morning than children who are driven to school.
We are lucky, we live just a 5 minute walk from Little 1's pre-school, which is also where she will be going to school in September, so we walk there everyday. We all enjoy the walk and a bit of fresh air definitely gets me going in the morning too.
This month Tots100 and Kia are hosting a Walk to school competition over on Twitter and Instagram, The idea is to photograph their 10 treasure hunt items on your walk to school to be in with a chance of winning some lovely vouchers and to try out the new Kia Carens 7 seater car. We've entered and thought we'd share our walk to school photos with you too.
Treasure hunt items to find:
Something yellow
Something that grows
A red letterbox
A blue front door
A triangle
A bus
Something old
An interesting shadow
A bike
A smile
The play park en-route to school is known by the Little ones as The Yellow Park....

Pansies in our front garden with a few toys that came on our stroll.
Something that grows |
A red letterbox |
Tricky to find this one as most doors around by us are white upvc but we found it when we walked the long way around.
A blue front door |
There are lots of triangles on the church we pass.

A bus |
We think this tree is really old look how big it is compared to the Little ones.
Something old |
The Little ones had fun making shapes and shadows in the sun but this one was their favourite. They thought they looked like scarecrows.
An interesting shadow |
A bike |
A smile |
We love our walk to school, we pass the church, a park, a huge old tree and bushes for hiding in, it might only take 5 minutes but we all enjoy it. When it is warm there is time for a quick go on the park and when it is wet there are plenty of puddles for jumping in along the way. Come rain or shine we always walk to school.
