Little 2 reviews- Molly Maybe and the Ghost Train

The Little Ones and I have been reading a new story at bedtime this week, it is called Molly Maybe and the Ghost train . This book is written by the creator of 'Sir Charlie Stinky Socks' Kristina Stephenson.

'Molly maybe has a marvellous secret- she and her faithful side kick Waggy Burns are the only ones who can travel to an amazing monster world that mirrors our own. Take a ride in the Mundervator with Molly and help her solve a crisis down in Undermunder.

There is a terrible smell in Smallsbury but Molly knows that it is not the drains! She ventures down into Undermunder and discovers three little monsters pumping out pooey smells in fear. They have lost their kite and are too scared of the ghastly ghost, the Ghoulie Gumpus to get it back. Will Molly be able to show then there's nothing to be scared of? or is Gholie Gumpus just too ghastly?'

We have not read any of the other Molly Maybe books in the series but the text and images on the first couple of pages explain what you need to know about Undermunder and of the Mundervator transporter.

Little 2 was pleased to find out that the story, even though it contained ghosts, was not scary at all and in fact rather friendly. Little 1, who is nearly seven, declared a book like this was not for her but for her younger siblings however she cuddled up for the story anyway and declared in a very loud voice 'Cool' at the penultimate pages of the book.

The story is well written with words jumping out from all over the page and engaging colourful illustrations of cute little monsters. The book is quite a long story and some younger children (the book is aimed at age 3+) might find it a little too long to concentrate on and understand, Little 2 at 4 and a half understood it and thought the book was 'wicked!'

If you are a fan of Molly Maybe there are some downloadable bits available too, A friendship card and activity sheets, can you spot the difference, find the words in the wordsearch and even design your own ghoul.

N.B We were gifted this book for the purpose of this review however all opinions are our own honest thoughts. There are no affiliate links in this post.
